Key Features of Fiberglass Mesh
Physical Properties
Fiberglass Mesh is lightweight, high-strength, high-modulus, and dimensionally stable. It has good rigidity and a flat surface, making it resistant to shrinkage and deformation while providing excellent positioning performance. Its lightweight design also makes it convenient for construction, handling, and transportation.
Chemical Properties
Fiberglass Mesh has good chemical stability and offers resistance to alkali, acid, water, cement erosion, and other forms of chemical corrosion. It also has strong bonding performance with resin and provides good resistance to mold and insects.
Functional Properties
Fiberglass Mesh has excellent toughness and good impact resistance. It also provides functions such as fire resistance, thermal insulation, sound insulation, and electrical insulation, making it suitable for a wide range of construction and industrial applications.
Fiberglass Mesh Manufacturing Process
The quality and performance of fiberglass mesh depend on the selection of raw materials, weaving accuracy, coating treatment, and drying process. A typical manufacturing process includes the following stages.
1. Raw Material Preparation
Medium-alkali or alkali-free fiberglass yarn is selected according to the required product specifications. The fiberglass yarn is wound and arranged on the yarn creel to prepare for the subsequent weaving process.
2. Warping
Multiple fiberglass yarns are processed through a warping machine to form a uniform warp sheet. During this stage, yarn tension is carefully controlled to ensure consistent alignment and stable mesh quality.
3. Weaving
The prepared warp yarns and weft yarns are interwoven on specialized equipment, such as a rapier loom, to form the required mesh structure. Different mesh openings and fabric weights can be produced according to customer requirements.
4. Coating
After weaving, the fiberglass mesh passes through a coating system where acrylic emulsion or other suitable coating materials are applied. The coating improves alkali resistance, bonding performance, durability, and overall stability.
5. Drying and Curing
The coated fiberglass mesh is processed through a controlled drying system. The coating is dried and cured to form a stable protective layer, ensuring that the finished mesh maintains its required physical and chemical properties.
6. Cutting and Packaging
The finished fiberglass mesh is inspected and cut into specified widths and roll lengths. Products are then carefully packaged according to customer requirements for safe storage and transportation.
Fiberglass Mesh Types and Specifications
Fiberglass mesh can be manufactured in different structures and specifications to meet the requirements of insulation systems, GRC products, reinforcement projects, and other applications.
Fiberglass Mesh Type | Typical Mesh Size | Typical Weight | Width | Roll Length |
Interior Wall Insulation Mesh | 5 × 5 mm, 4 × 4 mm | 80–165 g/m² | 1000–2000 mm | 50–300 m |
Exterior Wall Insulation Mesh | 5 × 5 mm, 4 × 5 mm, 4 × 4 mm | 80–160 g/m² | 1000–2000 mm | 50–200 m |
GRC Reinforcing Mesh | 8 × 8 mm, 10 × 10 mm, 12 × 12 mm | Around 125 g/m² | 600–1000 mm | 50–100 m |
Specifications can be customized according to project requirements, application conditions, and customer specifications.
Applications of Fiberglass Mesh

Construction
Fiberglass Mesh is used for reinforcement and protection of concrete walls, floors, roofs, interior walls, partitions, and other building structures. It can effectively help prevent cracking of plaster layers and is a commonly used reinforcing material in exterior wall insulation systems.
Roads and Bridges
Fiberglass Mesh can be used for crack prevention and reinforcement of asphalt pavements, as well as reinforcement and protection of bridge structures. It helps improve the load-bearing capacity of road surfaces and extend the service life of roads.

Water Conservancy Projects
Fiberglass Mesh can be used for waterproofing, anti-seepage, and reinforcement of water conservancy structures such as reservoirs, embankments, and canals. It forms a tight waterproof barrier to help protect water conservancy structures and maintain their safe and stable operation.
Other Applications
Fiberglass Mesh can also be used for soil reinforcement in geotechnical engineering, as well as anti-seepage and reinforcement applications in environmental engineering projects such as landfills and wastewater treatment tanks. In addition, it can be used as a reinforcing skeleton material for plastic and rubber products, as well as for fire-resistant boards, abrasive wheel reinforcement fabrics, and other applications.
