You get two looks out of one bag. The front carries the Chinese-style artwork — the pattern, the calligraphy, the dark green diamond. The back is kept simple: your brand name, a line of text and a small logo. Hand the bag over with the front facing out, and when the customer turns it around, the brand side is just as clear.

The paper is not plain white. Across the whole surface there is a faint geometric pattern, printed in a tone only a little deeper than the paper, so you notice it when the bag is at an angle and it almost disappears when you look straight at it. In the middle of the front sits one deep green diamond, filled with a fine repeating motif and edged with a soft brown line, and a few brush-written characters sit above it. Nothing shouts, and the bag still looks expensive.

The bag is thick speciality card, so it stands up and keeps its shape even when it is only half full. The handle is a flat satin ribbon, and each end passes through a metal rivet, so the pull is taken by metal instead of glue alone — a full bag will not rip the handle out of the paper. The base is folded flat and reinforced, so a tin of tea or a boxed incense set sits steady at the bottom.
