Product Overview

The Pneumatic Sheep Carcass Rail Unloading Device provides a controlled way to remove a suspended load from the dressing rail. The reference application is transfer from the rail toward a scalding tank, although the same principle may be used at a collection table or other receiving point when the geometry is engineered accordingly. It avoids uncontrolled manual lifting or dropping at a rail break.

A compact galvanized or stainless frame supports the guide and pneumatic cylinder. The stated lifting capacity is 300 kg, which provides a wide margin for sheep and goat carcasses but must not be confused with cycle throughput. The receiving equipment, hook path and guarding are as important as the actuator; a correctly rated device can still be unsafe if the carcass has nowhere controlled to move after release.

Working Principle

A carcass trolley or hook reaches the unloading position and is stopped by the rail guide. When the operator or line sensor initiates the cycle, the pneumatic cylinder moves the unloading arm through its working stroke. The mechanism lifts, pushes or tips the trolley past the rail retaining point, allowing the carcass to transfer to the receiving tank or support. The cylinder then retracts and the guide resets. Interlocks should prevent a new carcass from entering until the receiving area is clear and the arm has returned.

Application

The unloader is installed at the end of an overhead rail or at a planned change in handling method. It is relevant to sheep and goat lines transferring carcasses into batch scalding, onto a cradle, or to a lower collection position. The project engineer must verify hook or trolley shape, rail profile, approach slope, release point, falling distance, load restraint, air pressure and operator exclusion zone.

Reference Application Case

Reference application: a low‑capacity sheep line ends at a batch‑processing room.Carcasses arrive one at a time behind a pneumatic rail stop. After the tank operator confirms that the receiving cradle is empty, the unloader advances through its 170 mm stroke and releases the trolley. A guard prevents personnel from standing below the transfer. Two position sensors confirm arm extended and arm home before the upstream stop opens. The sequence is illustrative; a formal risk assessment is required for the actual plant.

Advantages

  • 1. Provides a repeatable release point at the end of a rail section

  • 2. Reduces heavy manual manipulation above shoulder height

  • 3. Small footprint is useful in constrained transfer areas

  • 4. Pneumatic drive is easy to integrate with simple interlocks

  • 5. Frame material can be selected for the surrounding washdown exposure
