If you're evaluating shielding for a room that runs higher-energy X-ray procedures, the lead equivalent number is where the conversation starts. This screen uses a 2.0 mmPb internal lead sheet — four times the shielding of a standard 0.5 mmPb general radiography screen. That matters if your department handles fluoroscopy, interventional procedures, or higher-kV techniques where scatter levels are elevated. For a basic chest X-ray room it may be more shielding than you need; for a busy interventional or fluoroscopy suite it's the spec you're looking for.

Construction

The screen is a single hinged panel — main section 840 mm wide, side wing 380 mm, total width 1200 mm, height 1800 mm. The frame and both panel faces are brushed 304 stainless steel, with an iron plate backing for structural rigidity. Stainless exterior stands up to daily disinfectant wiping without chipping or corroding, and the iron backing gives the panel the weight it needs to stay stable when the side wing is extended.

Observation window

A 120 by 170 mm high-lead glass window is set into the main panel, matched to the same 2.0 mmPb equivalent. The glass is optically clear — no yellow cast, no internal spots, bubbles, or inclusions — so staff maintain line of sight with the patient during exposure without stepping out from behind the shield.

Gap sealing at the hinge

The seam between the main panel and side wing is fitted with a 0.5 mmPb lead curtain. This is the detail that separates a properly shielding screen from one that leaks scatter at the joint — a common weak point on lower-cost units.

Mobility

Five casters total: two swivel wheels at the front of the main panel, two locking swivel wheels at the rear, and one swivel wheel under the side wing. The rear locks hold position during an exposure, and the silent-bearing wheels roll quietly through clinical hallways. The five-point spread keeps the screen tracking straight when pushed and prevents tipping when the wing is open.

What this means for your buying decision

2.0 mmPb shielding for higher-energy or higher-scatter environments

304 stainless construction for durability and easy cleaning

Matched lead-glass window with clear optics

Lead-curtain sealed hinge to prevent scatter leakage

Silent locking casters for quiet, stable mobility

If your facility needs a single-panel screen that can handle elevated radiation levels while holding up to daily clinical use, this unit is spec'd for that workload.
