gp100 (177-186)

<p>gp100 (177-186) is a high-purity synthetic peptide representing the HLA-A*0201-restricted cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) epitope derived from the human melanoma-associated antigen gp100/pMel 17. This 10-amino acid peptide (VLTPSGWTYV) is specifically designed for cancer immunotherapy research, serving as a potent immunogenic epitope that can be presented by MHC class I molecules to activate antigen-specific CD8+ T …

1.MECHANISM OF ACTION

gp100 (177-186) functions as a tumor-associated antigen peptide that binds to HLA-A0201 molecules on antigen-presenting cells (APCs), forming peptide-MHC complexes that are recognized by T cell receptors (TCRs) on CD8+ T cells. This interaction triggers T cell activation, proliferation, and differentiation into cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs). The activated CTLs then recognize and eliminate tumor cells expressing the gp100 antigen through perforin/granzyme-mediated cytotoxicity and cytokine release (such as IFN-γ). The peptide's immunogenicity is enhanced by its high affinity for HLA-A0201, making it a potent inducer of antigen-specific T cell responses in both in vitro and in vivo settings.
