Fibrinogen-binding Peptide CAS NO.137235-80-4

Fibrinogen-binding Peptide (FibP, CAS 137235-80-4) is a high-purity synthetic peptide designed to specifically target and bind to fibrinogen, a key glycoprotein in the blood coagulation cascade. This sequence is typically derived from the adhesive domains of proteins involved in hemostasis or thrombosis, such as a fragment of the γ-chain of fibrinogen. Manufactured under cGMP conditions, it serves as a critical rese…

1.MECHANISM OF ACTION

This peptide exerts its function by mimicking the natural binding sequence that mediates protein-protein interactions within the coagulation cascade. It specifically and with high affinity binds to fibrinogen molecules, particularly to sites like the platelet integrin receptor αIIbβ3 (GPIIb/IIIa) binding domain on the fibrinogen γ-chain.

2.PRODUCT INDICATIONS

Antithrombotic Drug Discovery: As a lead compound or screening tool for developing novel antiplatelet or anticoagulant agents.
Diagnostic Agent Development: For creating targeted imaging probes (e.g., for PET, SPECT, fluorescence) to visualize thrombi (blood clots) in vivo.
Biomaterial Functionalization: To coat medical devices (stents, grafts) or scaffolds to improve hemocompatibility or promote specific cell interactions.
Basic Coagulation Research: As a tool to study the molecular mechanisms of fibrinogen-mediated platelet aggregation and thrombus formation.

3.CLINICAL EFFICACY OF PRODUCT

As a research tool, FibP itself is not a clinically approved therapeutic. Its "efficacy" is measured in preclinical research settings. Studies show that peptides based on this sequence can effectively inhibit platelet aggregation in vitro and in animal models of thrombosis. When conjugated to imaging agents, they have demonstrated the ability to specifically localize to fresh and aged thrombi in experimental models, providing high-contrast imaging. The clinical success of related drugs (e.g., integrin αIIbβ3 antagonists like Tirofiban, which target the same interaction) validates the pathway this peptide modulates.
